September 2007: Exact Metrology Merges with Berding 3D Scanning
Exact Metrology, Inc. has recently merged Berding 3D Scanning, a reverse engineering and laser
scanning services firm based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The acquisition further strengthens Exact Metrology as
one on the nation’s leading metrology services providers.
The combined company will operate under the name Exact Metrology, Inc., and will provide inspection,
reverse engineering, non-contact laser scanning, and 2D/3D digitizing services as well as sales, service,
and implementation of metrology equipment from companies including Romer, Leica, Metronor, Breuckmann, Perceptron
and InnovMetric. The acquisition gives Exact Metrology additional highly-trained field service engineers, facilitating
faster customer service for both on-site and off-site inspections.
The merging of Berding enhances Exact Metrology’s long-range, large format scanning and digital file preparation
capabilities for architecture, civil engineering and surveying applications. Exact Metrology offers customers access
to both short-range scanning for product development and long-range scanning for large items such as facility layouts.
Mat Cappel, formerly Project Manager at Berding, was appointed General Manager of Exact Metrology. “This new venture allows
us to better service the customer” states Cappel. “From small part inspection to long-range 3D scanning to providing
metrology equipment from the best manufacturers in the industry, Exact Metrology can now more completely support
our customers’ full range of needs.”
